Dr. Debajyoti Mukhopadhyay, Ph.D.
Adjunct Professor of Information Technology
Dr. Debajyoti Mukhopadhyay, Ph.D. holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Information technology at UGSM-Monarch Business School Switzerland. He is also the Dean (R&D) of the MIT Group of Institutions in India and Head of IT at Maharashtra Institute of Technology Pune, India.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay has over 30 years of work experience including: 12 years of teaching experience in academics, 18 years in research, and 19 years in the IT industry. He has held the position of Director of Balaji Institute of Telecom & Management. He is the Founding Director of the Web Intelligence & Distributed Computing Research Lab (WIDiCoReL). Prof. Mukhopadhyay had also held the positions of President & CEO of Data-Core (India) Limited of Kuljian Corporation (USA) & DCPL (India), Technical Director of M.N. Dastur & Co Ltd, Director of SriSoft Corporation (Los Angeles), Dy GM of TIL Limited, and Senior Consultant of Tata Consultancy Services.
During 2008-2010, he was the founding Head and Professor of the Information Technology & MIS at Calcutta Business School and has held an Adjunct Professorship at Thapar University, Patiala. He has earlier experience as a full Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the West Bengal University of Technology affiliated Engineering Colleges during 2001-2008. He has also been a Visiting Professor in the Division of Electronics & Information Engineering at Chonbuk National University in the Republic of Korea (2006- 2007). Dr. Mukhopadhyay has also worked at Bell Communications Research, New Jersey, USA in its Computing Systems and Architecture Lab as a Scientist. He contributed research work in the field of data engineering, distributed computing, heterogeneous databases, computing architecture for open systems, CASE tools, communications protocols, etc. Was one of the key architects of Bellcore’s OSCA™ Architecture which is a meta architecture developed to support interoperability among heterogeneous systems. Dr. Mukhopadhyay also led various teams to design & develop several software systems related to the Planning & Engineering activities of the Regional Bell Telephone Companies. He led another team to design & develop software systems related to the telephone service order entry and service order generation in an on-line mode and also led a project to support the “CENTREX” office features. These systems were related to the Network Operations Systems of the Regional Bell Telephone Companies in the USA.”He also taught at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey and at Bengal Engineering College affiliated to Calcutta University, West Bengal.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay has guided many research scholars within Ph.D. studies in Computer Science degrees. He has authored over 100 articles in international refereed journals, conference proceedings and as research reports published in places such as: Information Systems Journal (UK), ACM SIGIR (USA), Computer Science and Informatics Journal (India), ACM SIGMOD Record (USA), Intelligent Information and Database Systems Journal (UK), Journal of Convergence Information Technology (Korea), Computer Communications Journal (UK), Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (Germany), IEEE Computer Society Digital Library (USA), Information Systems Management Journal (USA), and several other journals.
