Dr. Frank L. Winfrey, Ph.D. holds the position of Professor of Strategy at UGSM-Monarch Business School. He is also the Clark N. and Mary Perkins Barton Endowed Professor of Management and Chair of the Division of Business and Economics at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. Dr. Winfrey earned his Bachelor of Arts at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his M.B.A. from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and his Ph.D. in business policy and strategy from the College of Business Administration at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Winfrey’s research centers on CEO compensation, corporate governance, corporate structuring, and the environmental contexts of international business operations. His most recent research papers have been published by The Carnegie Bosch Institute for Applied Studies in International Management at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Winfrey has published research papers in a number of journals including Corporate Governance – An International Review, Strategic Change, Business Change and Re-engineering – The Journal of Corporate Transformation, and the Corporate Reputation Review. Dr. Winfrey’s 1997 paper (coauthored by James Budd), “Reframing Strategic Risk” was published in the SAM Advanced Management Journal, and is on the Essentials Reading List for Managers of the Institute of Management in the United Kingdom. Dr. Winfrey has also published a number of entries for the award-winning Encyclopedia of Business Ethics and Society for Sage Publications in 2007, and for the award-winning Encyclopedia of Global Business also for Sage Publications.

Dr. Winfrey has taught a variety of courses including Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Research and Analysis, Business Statistics, Production Management, Organizational Theory, International Business, Small Business Management, Investment Theory, and Senior (Strategy) Seminar. Dr. Winfrey also serves as a paper reviewer for the annual Academy of Management national meeting.

In the Batesville community, Dr. Winfrey has served as a trustee and chairperson of the Independence County Library Board of Trustees and the White River Regional Library Board, as the treasurer of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, as the treasurer of the Batesville Montessori School, and as a director and officer in the Batesville Rotary Club. Dr. Winfrey has also served as a consultant to the White River Medical System, Arkansas Eastman, the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, and the White County Medical Center. Dr. Winfrey also has extensive experience with accreditation procedures and serves on accreditation visits.
