Dr. Henderson holds the positions of Dean of Studies and is a Member of the Academic Board of UGSM-Monarch Business School. He has previously held the position of Director of Studies at Monarch. Before assuming the position of Dean at UGSM-Monarch Dr. Henderson was an affiliate professor at the Grenoble Graduate School of Business, France. Dr. Henderson has also been a lecturer for real estate finance within the Faculty of Management at McGill University as well as a guest lecturer for Corporate Social Responsibility at the European School of Management, the University of Monaco and the London School of Business and Finance.

Dr. Henderson has been published in the Ivey Business Journal of the University of Western Ontario concerning financial management theory. He is a chartered member of the Canadian Institute of Management where he holds the title of P.Mgr., professional manager, he is also a member of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in the United Kingdom and a member of ACUNS-Academic Council of the United Nations System.

Dr. Henderson returned to the academic field after a 20 year professional career in real estate development having held Vice-President and managerial positions at: Bentall Capital, Brookfield Properties, Kolter Properties and KPMG Canada LLP. In these positions, he was instrumental in:

  • Planning, structuring and executing strategic initiatives resulting in numerous successfully developed projects and turn-arounds.
  • Establishing himself as a Real Estate industry expert.
  • Developing comprehensive analytical, due diligence, and valuation tools and methodologies.
  • Managing a portfolio of $600 million residential properties.
  • Managing the acquisition, disposition and development of over $3 billion of commercial real estate assets in Canada, United States and Mexico.

As Dean of Studies, Dr. Henderson believes that businesses often take too narrow a view of their responsibilities with respect to social arenas in which they operate. With this in mind, Dr. Henderson encourages his students to consider the larger picture and to connect the meta-dots of theory and praxis thus bringing all concerned constituents and perspectives into consideration with respect to business decisions. Dr. Henderson’s teaching philosophy is reflected in the famous quote from Socrates:

“I do nothing but go about persuading you all, old and young alike, not to take thought for your persons or your properties, but and chiefly to care about the greatest improvement of the soul. I tell you that virtue is not given by money, but that from virtue comes money and every other good of man, public as well as private. This is my teaching, and if this is the doctrine which corrupts the youth, I am a mischievous person.”
