Dr. Martin Oluba, Ph.D., DBA
Professor of Economics
Dr. Martin Oluba holds the position of Professor of Economics at UGSM-Monarch Business School. He also holds the position of Professor of Economics and Finance at SMC University in Switzerland as well as Professor of International Administration and Global Economics at EUCLID (Euclid Intergovernmental University Framework). He is also the Director of the Centre for the Study of African Financial Regulatory Institutions, a Fellow of the Centre for the Study of Economic Policy Performance, a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Public Policy Analysis and a member of the governing council of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCCI).
Dr. Oluba has 20 years experience in leading economic and financial research activities. He has been responsible for setting up and managing processes and structures for the delivery of high quality strategic advice in several research-driven corporate environments and institutions. Dr. Oluba’s areas of interest include: policy impact assessment, responses of entrepreneurship, innovation and investment decisions to economic prices in highly unstable economies, patterns of investment behaviour across socio-economic groups; patterns of investment financing in Africa and; corporate investment decisions and firm performance; interface between the policies of the central bank and the growth of the private sector; fine-tuning of performance metrics and accountability structure for government institutions.
Dr. Oluba’s consulting experience cuts across several sectors of the Nigerian economy and comprises many engagements with leading international development agencies, including: The World Bank, UNDP, DFID, UNIFEM, SMSE, CIDA, SLGP, The European Commission, The Nigerian Economic Summit Group, the National Planning Commission and the National Assembly. Dr. Oluba has also held several executive potions at various corporations including: Forte Asset Management Limited, Platinum Capital Limited (now Bank PHB), Lombard Assets Management Limited and Strategic Capital Alliance Limited – a research-based consulting outfit. Prior to these positions, Dr. Oluba was a senior investment analyst with Hamilton Hammer & Co. with responsibility for securities forecasting. Dr. Oluba is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of African Markets and Financial Regulatory Institutions, Businessday newspapers and The Nigerian Stock Market Annual.
